My Journey to the Snowflake Advanced Architect Certification

Earning the Snowflake Advanced Architect certification has been a very challenging but rewarding experience. It demonstrates your expertise in Snowflake and can help you advance your career as a True Snowflake architect. But how do you go about getting certified? In this article, I’ll share my own journey to the Snowflake Advanced Architect certification, including the study methods I used, the challenges I faced, and the tips I learned along the way.

Here’s a useful link of the questions that I practiced on.

Finding the Right Resources

The first step is to find the right resources to help you prepare for the exam. There are many different resources available, including:

  • Snowflake documentation: The Snowflake documentation is a great resource for learning about Snowflake and its features.
  • Snowflake training courses: Snowflake offers a variety of training courses that can help you prepare for the exam. Youtube link on SimpliLearning has been the torch-bearer.
  • Practice exams: There are many practice exams available online and in bookstores. These can help you get familiar with the format of the exam and identify areas where you need to focus your studies. I found the Udemy course of Advanced Architect very useful. Just iterate through through those 3 tests till you get 100% and at that time, you know you are ready.
  • Online communities: There are many online communities where you can connect with other people who are studying for the Snowflake Advanced Architect exam. The https://community.snowflake.com/s/forum community has been a great source of support and information.

Developing a Study Plan

Once you’ve found the right resources, it’s time to develop a study plan. I would say it takes anywhere from 4 to 5 weeks of 2 hours each day of concentrated time and that would be key to prep. Also find a study partner with whom you can exchange pointers — luckily my wife was also keen to be certified and her watch-outs (“multi-choice answers”, “Standard edition and not Enterprise Edition”, “First replication and then sharing”, “which of these options will FAIL” etc.) used to reverberate at the TIME of taking the test.

Staying Motivated

It’s important to stay motivated throughout your studies. Set realistic goals and track your progress. In the Udemy tests, you might not get 100 till the 4th week but it is okay to keep motivated and have your mnemonics and tips — “ For Kafka — it is JSON and AVRO (both 4 letters!)”, “InsertReport has limit of 10,000 since Report has 6 chars and InsertFiles is 5000 since Files is 5 chars”). The sillier the better.

Taking the Exam

When you’re finally ready to take the exam, make sure you’re well-rested and prepared. The last hour, read up thru your notes and especially look for numbers since for me, those numbers stick out more than others. Read the instructions carefully and answer the questions to the best of your ability. Don’t second-guess yourself, and trust your instincts.

Celebrating Your Success

Passing the Snowflake Advanced Architect exam is a major accomplishment. Share it on the LinkedIn.

Conclusion

Earning the Snowflake Advanced Architect certification is a great way to boost your career as a Snowflake architect. By following the tips in this article, you can increase your chances of success. Just remember to find the right resources, develop a study plan, stay motivated, and take the exam with confidence.
